Created between 2016 and 2019, this early body of work explores the relationship between inner essence and external identity. During this formative period, Roksolana Fursa was searching for her own visual language, gradually developing the symbolic figures that became central to her practice.
Stripped of hair, clothing, and social attributes, the figures represent the human soul in its most vulnerable and authentic state. They are not portraits of specific people, but embodiments of emotional and spiritual experience, questioning society’s fixation on appearance and external ideals.
The collection reflects a journey of experimentation and self-discovery, tracing the evolution of her visual language toward a deeper exploration of identity, authenticity, and the enduring purity of the inner self.
